BEIJING, Sept. 2, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — In August, Dutch Rabobank’s 2020 ‘Global Dairy Top 20’ Report ranked Yili Group (SHA: 600887) as the world’s 5th largest Dairy company and largest in Asia. Yili’s ranking marks the first time a Asian dairy company has entered the top 5 in the Report’s history, moving up from 8th position in 2019, and is the highest rank ever achieved by an Asian dairy company.
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Yili’s total revenue in the first half of 2020 surging to CNY 47.52 billion (USD 6.95 billion), with net profit (after reducting non-recurring gain and lose) of CNY 3.76 billion (USD 550 million), accredited a portion of their success to developments in the South-East Asian market. In Indonesia, Yili’s Joyday Ice Cream launched 24 new products to date and is present in more than 40 cities across 20 provinces. In Thailand, Yili’s Chomthana was recently awarded the FDA’s Quality Award by the Thai Ministry of Public Health, recognizing the company’s exceptional product and manufacturing quality.
In other parts of the region, Yili’s Cremo, Ambrosial and other brands have also made significant progress, releasing new products, entering new markets and providing employment and investment opportunities for local communities. In the future, this region will be a considerable focus for the Group with plans to build a South-East Asian Innovation Centre to help better understand and serve local customers.
